Free Blog Course from Simpleology

Cool blogging freebie to give away today! Even if you don’t already have a blog, it’s a good way to get started.
I’m evaluating a multi-media course on blogging from the folks at Simpleology. For a while, they’re letting you snag it for free if you post about it on your blog.
It covers:
- The best blogging techniques.
- How to get traffic to your blog.
- How to turn your blog into money.
I’ll let you know what I think once I’ve had a chance to check it out. Meanwhile, go grab yours while it’s still free.
Update: I finally got into Simpleology to take a peek at their blogging tutorial. When you confirm your subscription, you’re taking to an OTO (one time offer) page that goes on and on about how many glasses of water a day to drink and why you don’t need vitamins. I was seriously confused because it all had zippo to do with blogging and I just wanted my blogging stuff already. And I couldn’t find the “no thanks!” button and I even sent the link to Erin for help.
But…once I got in (and I did sign up for the OTO because, well…I love a freebie!), the info I’ve looked at so far is great. The multimedia presentations are quick to view, professionally done, and easy to understand. My recommendation is it’s worth the hassle.
Update on my update: I’ve logged into Simpleology and checked out the blogging info as promised; good stuff.
But here’s what I DON’T like about this system. That OTO I signed up for (30 day free trial about your health)? I’m already locked out of it. Why? Well, as directed I went through Paypal to “purchase” my thirty day trial. As expected, there was a $97 monthly fee to be charged after the 30 days were up. That’s cool; I’ll just unsubscribe before then if I want to. Now here’s the thing about me; I forget EVERYTHING. I’ve belonged to memberships way longer than I wanted just because I forget to unsubscribe. And $97 is a pretty costly thing to forget, right? So I immediately go back and unsubscribe to this program on Paypal, since it’s on my mind now. And if I end up loving it so much, I can always subscribe again later. Except I’m already locked out of the program. Clearly, it’s not really a 30 day trial. In my case, it worked out to about 30 minutes.
Going back and reading the terms of the subscription in Paypal, it says “Free for the first 30 days. Then $97.00 USD for one day.”
Now I guess this could be a lesson to me; on one hand, it could look like the taker (me) got taken. On the other hand, it’s a bit sneaky on their part, so really, I call that even!
Mark Joyner, 0. Jen McVey, 0.
Anyway, if you’re a beginning blogger, you’ll benefit from what’s in there, however I didn’t see anything earth shattering that you couldn’t find elsewhere. Just enter at your own risk and don’t be swayed by the gliittery, shiny things like I was.
Updating the Updated Update: Stay posted because Erin and I are pulling a starter package together for people who want to get blogging. If you sign up for our free newsletter, you’ll be the first to know about it!
And yes…it’s yet another update: Received an email from Anne, Mark Joyner’s assistant, clarifying my issues with their site. One thing I need to point out is that the fee for the OTO is actually $97, total. NOT per month. Here’s what Anne had to say about the confusion:
3. The OTO for Simpleology 102 is only $97. It’s not a monthly
subscription. You only pay it once, and you pay it after 30 days
of testing the course (the 30-day free trial period). I think what
is causing the confusion is the wording that Paypal uses:“Free for the first 30 days. Then $97.00 USD for one day.”
Unfortunately, this is not under our control. We have brought this
up with Paypal, but they refuse to change it to clearer terms.
So my apologies for the error.
