I just discovered a terrific blog post with unique link building ideas that go beyond article marketing and the like.

One of the most interesting suggestions is using internal linking within your own site(s) in order to increase page rankings. I love this concept because it’s something I have real control over. Currently, I’m in the middle of redesigning my main web site, www.favorite-puppy-names.com, and using internal linking to strengthen my site’s web presence. It’s too early to tell if it’s working, especially since I don’t have all my pages up yet, but based on what I’m reading, it’s a sure-fire way to get great results.

Other strategies referenced in the blog post include using Flickr, submitting free ebooks to directories, and trading blog reviews. Some ideas are very niche-specific, but the list includes enough tips for general marketing to make it worth the read.
